Schoolboy DJ, 10, supports rave legend Judge Jules

Most kids spend Friday nights doing homework or staring at a screen but 10-year-old Efan has something better planned.

Despite barely having hit double figures the youngster is set to support rave legend and actual lawyer Judge Jules when he plays the 600 capacity Neuadd Ogwen, in Bethesda, in Gwynedd.

For Efan, who uses the stage name Efan Electro, it will be his biggest show yet.

He is nervous but the Ysgol Llanllechid pupil cannot wait to get behind the decks.

"I got into it all when I was about eight years old," he said.

"My mum and dad had shown me all this 90s music like Fatboy Slim and Faithless.

"I'd seen some people on stage and playing online and I thought 'that looks really cool and I'd like to give that a go'.

"So for Christmas I asked for some decks."

Efan, from Bethesda, said DJing gives him a "happy feeling", adding: "I just forget everything when I'm actually on the dance floor."

Watching other DJs has inspired him.

American producer Marshmello is among those whose work he admires.

He said: "I just wanted to recreate that feeling for me when I'm on the decks and then to see everyone else in the crowd happy and dancing - it feels amazing."

Efan has also played discos at his school.

"I've DJed at a school concert - they gave me one of my first opportunities," he said.

"My friends are amazing and they think it's really fun."

Ysgol Llanllechid head teacher Gwenan Davies Jones said Efan had loved music from a young age.

"Music flows through his veins and as he's become older he's become a very talented DJ - he's only 10 years old but we're very lucky as a school," she said.

"He's always happy to go on stage with all his gear and all the pupils are so happy to move and dance to all of his songs."

Efan believes he will be DJing until he is 60.

He said: "I have big dreams for big festivals, Tomorrowland and Glastonbury.

"And one of the ones on my list was to warm up for Judge Jules.

"I can tick that off the list now."
