Man charged over suspected XL bully attack
BBCA man has been charged following a suspected XL bully dog attack in a town centre.
Nottinghamshire Police was called to High Road in Beeston on Wednesday morning after a man suffered hand and leg injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
The force said a 44-year-old man was arrested and a dog seized on Thursday at an address in the town.
The man has now been charged with being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control, causing injury in relation to the attack.
He has also been charged with being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control - relating to two alleged incidents in High Road, Beeston, on 25 September and 2 August – and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal on 2 August.
He was released on conditional bail and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 29 October.
The dog, which is believed to be an XL bully type, remains in secure kennels.
It has been a criminal offence to own an XL bully dog in England and Wales since 1 February, unless the dog has a certificate of exemption, third party insurance, with the dog muzzled and on a lead in a public place.
