A woman has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent after another woman was stabbed in Grimsby.

Officers were called at 17:45 BST on Friday to reports of a fight involving two women on Oxford Street.

Humberside Police said a 52-year-old woman suffered cuts, described as "serious", to her head.

A 43-year-old woman, who was arrested nearby, remains in police custody, the force added.

Det Sgt Sacha Harvey said: "A scene guard was put in place yesterday evening to allow my team to carry out initial lines of enquiry.

"Members of the public can expect to see officers in and around the area today whilst we continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. If anybody has concerns, I encourage to speak to our officers."

Witnesses, including anyone with CCTV, is asked to contact police.
