A man has been sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison for abducting and raping a young girl.

Regan Mann, aged 20, was also made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life, and a restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim.

He had previously pleaded guilty to two charges of rape, and one charge of kidnapping.

Mann, from Brownhills in Walsall according to West Midlands Police, initially contacted the girl, who was under 13, on social media platform Snapchat, before arranging to meet her in March.

At the meeting, the girl brought a friend, who was of similar age. Mann then took them to his home, the force said.

"Mann took advantage of his young victim, groomed her online and then arranged to meet up with her. She thought he was 14 or 15 but in reality he was 19," said Det Con Lucy Simpson.

"Despite knowing she was underage, he didn’t care."

Mann was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 16 September.

"The two girls have been very brave in providing evidence which has helped to successfully convict Mann," the officer said.

"We hope their bravery encourages other people subjected to sexual abuse to come forward."
