Man arrested over firearms offence

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm in a Derbyshire town.

Armed officers went to the Grove Road area, in Chesterfield, just after 18:30 BST on Monday.

It comes after a report of a domestic incident in Brimington on Saturday, police said.

A 54-year-old man was detained on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm.

A police spokesperson said there was no wider risk to the public.
