Greg James says he will ask Coldplay to play 'Orange'
Radio 1 presenter Greg James said he will ask Coldplay to perform Yellow at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Luton.
Resident Bex Jones, who lives opposite Stockwood Park where the event has been taking place, started a campaign for the band to change the lyrics to its hit song in tribute to Luton Town Football Club - who play in orange.
James told BBC Three Counties Radio presenter Justin Dealey: "I will send a couple of emails, because they owe me a favour.
"It's the sort of thing Chris Martin would do if you put pressure on him, if you told him 'the people of Luton would love you even more if you did this'."
The Hatters may play in orange but their rivals, Watford Football Club, play in yellow.
The Luton side spent a year in the Premier League before being relegated last week.
Rob Edwards, the manager of the Hatters, joined the Mayor of Luton, Mohammed Yaqub Hanif, in calls for Coldplay to make the change.
Ms Jones has been given tickets to Sunday's event where Coldplay will headline by BBC Three Counties Radio.
The Luton resident said the town would never forget it if the band changed the lyrics: "Come on Chris, do it, do it, do it."
