Pilot seriously hurt after glider crashed into hill
A glider pilot suffered spinal injuries after his glider lost speed and crashed into a hillside near Kinross.
The 68-year-old man was flown to hospital following the incident in November last year, according to a new Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) report.
The pilot had encountered turbulence before his glider lost height and speed and came down on Bishop Hill.
The AAIB said the aircraft's low airspeed meant it had insufficient energy to be safely manoeuvred away from the hill.
Investigators said the glider's wings and cockpit were damaged in the crash.
They said the pilot was seriously injured and that mountain rescuers were among those who went to his aid.
