Pair arrested as laughing gas and knife seized

Police have arrested two men after "large bottles" of nitrous oxide and a knife was found in a parked car.

Patrol officers noticed steamed-up windows in the car, which was parked in Coningswath Road, Carlton, Nottinghamshire, on Sunday at 01:45 BST.

The force said they were "greeted by the smell of cannabis", prompting a search which led to the discovery of so-called laughing gas, balloons, a knife and a "small quantity of cannabis".

Two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply nitrous oxide, possessing a knife in public, and possessing Class B drugs.

Police said one of the occupants of the car attempted to run away before they were stopped and a "burner-style phone" was retrieved.

Both men have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
