A company that makes specialist clinical and therapeutic chairs is to create 62 new jobs in the north west.

Seating Matters, which is based in Limavady, distributes chairs across the world to help people with comfort and postural support.

The jobs are part of a £3.7m investment over the next two years to expand its manufacturing facilities in Limavady and Londonderry.

The business, which was started in 2008, already employs a number of people in locations across Limavady, the United States, Canada and Australia.

Managing director Martin Tierney said they hoped the investment would help it triple turnover by 2027.

"With increased production capacity and over 60 new staff, we will be ready to scale rapidly and further ourselves as an award-winning exporter known for products which dramatically impact the lives of the most dependent patients in our society, and the people who care for them," he said.

George McKinney, from Invest NI, said: “Since 2008, Invest NI has worked with Seating Matters to achieve ambitious growth targets."

'A key regional employer'

Economy Minister Conor Murphy, who visited the site in Limavady on Monday, said the investment would l strengthen the company’s position as a regional employer.

Mr Murphy said these new roles in the north west would also offer excellent employment opportunities for the local community.

"This latest investment will further expand its capacity and enable it to produce even more products efficiently," Mr Murphy said.

Mr Murphy also visited an event in the Guildhall in Derry on Monday as part of a series of engagements to mark the first anniversary of business support service Go Succeed.

Go Succeed said in that first year, they have engaged with almost 27,500 individuals and businesses, as well as awarding more than £1.9m in grants.
