A cyclist is being treated in hospital for life-threatening injuries following a collision with a car, police have said.

Officers were called to the incident on James Reckitt Avenue, Hull, at 19:15 GMT on Friday.

It was thought that the car, a black Ford Focus, was travelling towards the junction with Chestnut Grove when it collided with the 31-year-old man, who was riding a pedal bike.

The car went on to hit a tree on the side of the road. The driver, a 47-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Humberside Police is appealing for witnesses, or anyone with CCTV footage taken at around the time of the incident, to get in touch.
