Woman dies after car crashes into road barrier

A woman has died after the car she was travelling in crashed into a barrier in Halifax.

The 84-year-old was a passenger in a silver Volkswagen Golf when it was in collision with a barrier on the A58 Burdock Way at about 18:50 GMT on Saturday.

She was taken to hospital but died from her injuries on Monday, West Yorkshire Police said.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80s, was also injured and taken to hospital.

Police said the car had been travelling away from Halifax towards Shibden at the time of the crash and that no other vehicles were involved.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision or the movements of the car beforehand to get in touch.
