Two arrested after man and woman hurt in attack

Two people have been arrested following an assault in Liverpool.

A man and a woman received serious injuries and were being treated in hospital, Merseyside Police said.

Police were called to the incident, which involved five people, on Normanton Avenue in Aigburth at around 03:30 GMT.

Two males, aged 17 and 36, from Aigburth have been arrested on suspicion of assault and will be questioned by police.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the force.
