East of England hail storms - your pictures

Parts of the East of England experienced intense hail storms on Monday lunchtime.

Hail - a type of precipitation that forms when water droplets in thunderstorms freeze and fall to the ground - was reported in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.

In Royston some of the hail was comparable in size to marbles, while storms were also reported in Hertford, Letchworth Garden City, Cambridge and parts of Suffolk.

Hail differs from sleet, which occurs when raindrops freeze before reaching the ground.
