Paedophile jailed for grooming girls while on bail
A man who tried to groom teenage girls while on bail for a previous similar offence has been jailed.
Jason White, 34, of Eagles Way, Cambridge, had been arrested after messaging a girl while claiming to be 15 and sending her an inappropriate photograph.
While on bail he approached two girls he believed to be 13 and 14 years old who were in fact online activists, and they reported him to police.
White pleaded guilty to child sex offences at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday and was sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison.
'Danger to children'
White was initially arrested after he approached a girl online, claiming to be a teenager and asking her for an inappropriate photograph, said Cambridgeshire Police.
He then admitted his true age and sent her an image. The online conversation ended and the victim's mother reported him to police.
Despite being arrested and bailed on 16 September, he continued to approach children.
An online activist group reported him after a decoy pretended to be a 14-year-old girl.
White used a fake name on Facebook to claim to be a boy, engaged her in conversation and then requested a relationship, suggesting they met up in Cambridge or Brighton.
He sent an inappropriate picture of himself and was arrested on 17 December.
The activist group also told police he had sent an image to another decoy too, who claimed to be a 13-year-old girl, two days previously.
White pleaded guilty to one count of inciting a girl 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Det Con Rosie McKenzie said: "The fact White continued to offend on bail shows he is a danger to children, so it's good news he's now behind bars.
"This case is a good example that people aren't always who they claim to be online.
"Child sexual abuse can be devastating for the victims and their families, and we will do everything in our power to put abusers in front of the courts."
