Three people were treated for serious injuries after the crash along the A50 in Derbyshire on Sunday

A man has been arrested after a three-car crash in Derbyshire left three people with serious injuries.

Officers were called to the A50, between Sudbury and Aston, just after 18:45 BST on Sunday following the crash, which involved a silver Ford Focus, a grey Nissan X-Trail, and a grey Citroen C4.

Derbyshire Police said three passengers from the X-Trail were treated for "suspected serious injuries", though these are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A 29-year-old man, the driver of the Ford Focus, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, the force added.

A road closure, between the A511 at Foston and the A516 at Hilton, was put in place for several hours while emergency services and vehicle recovery were in attendance.

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact police.
