Christmas lights left town centre boss 'haunted'
A town centre boss has said she felt "haunted by Christmas" after Christmas lights on a tree outside the town hall were left on until the middle of January.
A spokesperson for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the lights had been eventually disconnected and removed on Thursday.
The day before, town centre manager Robyn Bunyan told the town forum she had "no idea" why they were still on.
Some traditions think Christmas decorations should be taken down by 6 January, or Twelfth Night, at the latest.
Ms Bunyan told the forum they had "probably still walked past that Christmas tree and seen it illuminated today".
"I have no idea why it's still on. I've been on the roof, I've tried to turn it off and it's just like Christmas is haunting me," she said.
Despite the hiccup, Ms Bunyan called Maidenhead's Christmas lights switch-on as Storm Bert hit the UK on 23 November "an absolute win".
She said: "With that event, we were able to switch our festive market to inside the Desborough Theatre and keep all of our stallholders and all of our musical entertainment.
"That is really a testament to the acts that wanted to carry on and us being able to deliver the event safely and professionally."
