Couple 'overwhelmed' by infertility site response
A Guernsey couple who launched a local infertility support website say they have been "overwhelmed" by the positive support it has received from across the globe.
Lucy and Luke Vidamour launched In Crowd in November, after finding a lack of support during their eight years trying to conceive.
The couple said people from the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia had shared their own infertility stories after seeing posts from the site online.
"It was amazing how this was very deliberately aimed at a local audience, but obviously resonated with people further afield," said Luke.
'Empowered to speak'
The couple described the site as a one-stop-shop for all the resources they wished were available when they first started their fertility journey.
The couple's first post about the In Crowd reached about 250,000 people.
"We've had loads of positive feedback. It was actually quite overwhelming," said Lucy.
"Not Just in Guernsey but from across the globe."
Luke said he believed people had found confidence from hearing the stories of people experiencing infertility from other countries.
"In somewhere like Guernsey there's only a handful of people maybe in the island who are going through what they're going through," he said.
"They get to see people online who they relate to or they think speak openly and that makes them feel empowered to speak themselves."
