A man has been arrested after Gardaí (Irish police) seized approximately 90kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.8m (£1.5m) in County Louth.

The 50-year-old was arrested and detained at a Garda station in County Louth on Monday.

The seizure and arrest were the result of a joint operation by Irish customs officers and Garda drugs units.

The drugs seized have been sent for forensic analysis and investigations are ongoing.
