Police say two houses were burgled in one day

More than £40,000 worth of jewellery has been stolen in two burglaries in Wiltshire.

Wiltshire Police said a property in Nettleton was broken into between 15:15 and 16:30 BST on Tuesday.

Earlier in the same day, occupants of a house on Box Hill, Corsham, returned home to find that they had been burgled sometime between 12:00 and 18:10.

Jewellery of sentimental value had been taken and a "messy search" carried out, police said.

Det Insp Steve Edwards from Wiltshire Police said: "Burglary is a hugely impactful crime - not only in financial terms but also emotionally.

"We are keeping an open mind around these burglaries and are considering whether they are linked."

Wiltshire Police is also investigating after £15,000 worth of jewellery was taken from a property in Swindon on 28 April.

The force said it wants to hear from anyone with information, and urged people to make sure they take extra measures to keep their personal items secure.
