Free light festival to illuminate waterfront
A free light festival set to shine in Greater Manchester is said to be the "best yet".
Lightwaves Salford is a trail of light art installations at outdoor locations across Salford Quays and MediaCity after dark.
No booking is needed for the event, which runs from 5 to 8 December.
This year celebrates the 11th anniversary of Lightwaves with a trail of 14 illuminated works from established, as well as emerging, artists, both local, national and international, bringing a variety of different pieces.
Quays Culture are the creators of the light trail and tour around the UK with innovative and captivating light work which is made free for everyone.
Throughout the festival, there are guided tours - including a BSL guided tour of the Lightwaves on 7 December at 19:00 GMT and a guided bike ride on 8 December at 16:00.
Kate Doyle, head of programme for Quays Culture said: "The programme is one of our best yet and we’re looking forward to seeing visitors’ reactions to our thought-provoking new commissions.
"In the dark winter months, human beings are instinctively drawn to light and the chance to gather together with other people. All are welcome to Lightwaves Salford to experience the joy of light art!"
