Man dies after collision between two jet skis

A 42-year-old man has died following a collision between two jet skis in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called to Wigtown Bay, near Gatehouse of Fleet, at about 17:00 on Saturday.

Isle of Whithorn and Kirkcudbright Coastguard Rescue Teams and an inshore lifeboat from Kirkcudbright RNLI were also sent to the scene.

The man was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries and died in hospital on Sunday morning.

No-one else was injured in the collision.

Det Insp Graeme Robertson said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family and everyone affected by this tragic incident."

He said inquiries were ongoing to establish what led to the collision and urged anyone with information to contact police.
