A man has been arrested in connection with robberies at two pharmacies in East Sussex.

Police received reports of a man entering the stores and telling staff he had a knife and demanding drugs.

The incidents happened at Boots Pharmacy, in Eastbourne Road, Pevensey, and Kamsons Pharmacy, Victoria Drive, Eastbourne, on Saturday.

A 42-year-old was arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery.

Police said nothing was taken from the Boots store after the man was challenged by a customer, but drugs were taken from the Kamsons store.

Nobody was hurt.

Ch Insp Andy Nicklin said such incidents were "traumatic" for staff.

He said: "We have made numerous visits to pharmacies in the area to provide additional crime prevention advice and reassurance.

“We have worked hard to quickly identify the suspect and promptly make an arrest.”

Anyone who witnessed either incident should contact the police.
