Just over half of those eligible for a flu jab in Kent have had one, says the NHS Trust

Three pop-up flu and Covid vaccination clinics are set to open their doors in Kent.

East Kent Hospitals University (EKHU) NHS Foundation Trust said jabs would be available at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (QEQM), and the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

The clinics will be open from Tuesday until 31 January between 10:00 and 16:00 GMT.

It comes after NHS chiefs warned the number of people in hospital with flu in England was rising "at a very concerning rate".

The UK Health and Security Agency, meanwhile, has extended a cold weather health alert in the South East until 14 January, which it said would likely result in increased demand for health services.

"Vaccination is free, quick and easy," said the EKHU NHS Foundation Trust.

"It's also the best way to protect yourself and those you care about as cases increase this winter."

Just over half (54%t) of the one million people in Kent who are eligible for a flu vaccine have had one, according to the trust.
