Police name man killed in Ardrossan disturbance

Police have named the man who died in an incident at a block of flats in North Ayrshire as 59-year-old Stuart Kennedy from Ardrossan.

Officers were called to the disturbance in the town's Montgomerie Street at about 20:15 on Tuesday. Mr Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old woman was also found with injuries outside the building and taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment.

A 40-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death and the attempted murder of a woman.
