Man dies after being rescued from river
A man has died in hospital after being rescued from the River Aire in Saltaire by emergency crews.
He was spotted on Saturday afternoon by customers at the Boathouse Inn, which overlooks the river, and was subsequently pulled out of the water by fire and rescue officers.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed the man, who was 45, died later after being taken to hospital for treatment, adding that his family had been informed.
Officers confirmed that the death was not being treated as suspicious and a file would be prepared for the coroner.
George White, manager at the Boathouse Inn, told the BBC that two customers had spotted the man "floating down towards the pub".
"The fire service came into the pub and told us to close all the shutters," he added.
"We don't know exactly what happened, but we give our condolences to his family."
