Damage from storm causes sewage discharge into sea
Stormy weather has led to sewage being discharged into the sea at Weston-super-Mare.
Wessex Water said a temporary pipe at Uphill beach burst on Sunday.
"Regrettably, this has resulted in sewage entering the sea and erosion of the causeway used to access the beach," a spokesperson said.
"The pipe has now been repaired and we are working closely with North Somerset Council and the Environment Agency to ensure the area is made safe again and to repair the damaged causeway, which we have temporarily closed."
Road access to the beach has been closed while repairs take place, but there are other access points to the beach.
