Convict escaped police in hospital using motorbike

A man who fled a hospital while in police custody has been jailed for 16 months.
Daryl Taylor absconded from Ipswich Hospital on 11 August.
Suffolk Police said that after his handcuffs had been removed for a scan, he asked to go to the toilet and to get some fresh air - but instead fled via a motorbike that was waiting outside the emergency unit.
The 33-year-old, from the town, was jailed for 16 months on Monday at Ipswich Crown Court for escaping from lawful custody.
At the time of his visit to hospital, police said Taylor was serving a three-year sentence for assault causing actual bodily harm and for perverting the course of justice.
He had also been arrested on suspicion of the alleged multiple child sex offences.
He was recaptured on 14 August.
After a trial in February at Ipswich Crown Court, he was found not guilty of the child sex offences.
