Armed police were called to Reddings Road in Cheltenham

Armed police have arrested two men following reports of a group of people threatening each other with weapons.

Gloucestershire Police were called to Reddings Road in Cheltenham shortly after 13:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Two men, aged 21 and 31, have been arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident and are in police custody.

Police said it is believed that the men had made threats while in possession of wooden garden posts and the force has asked for witnesses to come forward.

Two people were reported to have left the scene in a car which was found on Bath Road, with the men arrested soon after.

"Officers from the Cheltenham Neighbourhood Policing team will be taking part in high visibility reassurance patrols and anyone who witnessed what happened on Reddings Road is asked to make contact," the force said.
