How police believe unidentified dead woman looked
A reconstructed image of the face of a woman whose body was found in a river eight months ago has been released in a bid to discover her identity.
The woman was pulled from the River Mersey near Chorlton Water Park in Manchester on 21 March.
Greater Manchester Police has released a facial reconstruction worked up by experts based on forensic information.
Detective Inspector Louise Edwards said the force was determined to "reunite her with her family and find the people that will be missing her".
The facial reconstruction was created by Face Lab at Liverpool John Moores University after an anthropologist told police her approximate age.
It comes after the last police appeal in March, when photographs of the woman's clothing were shared.
She was found wearing a lime-green Primark crop-top and New Look jeans, and dark green anti-slip socks.
Detailed forensic, DNA and investigative work was carried out over the past eight months, the force said.
The woman is described as being from a European background, about 5ft 1in, of a slim build and with dark brown hair.
Police believe she is between 26 and 40, although could be older or younger.
The woman, who had an elastic band and hair bobble on her wrist, is thought to have been in the water for one or two months before she was discovered.
Police believe she may have entered the water in a surrounding area or region, with the River Tame and River Goyt both merging into the River Mersey.
Her cause of death is being treated as unexplained and further analysis of her body is due to be completed.
DI Edwards said she could be "someone's mother, auntie, sister, or cousin," adding that "somebody out there will know who she is".
She has urged anyone with any information to come forward as even the "smallest detail" could help establish her identity.
