Motorcyclist, 18, dies after crash near Wick

A man has died following a crash involving a car and a motorbike near Wick on Wednesday night.

The incident - which involved a grey Yamaha motorcycle and a red Renault Clio - took place on the B874 near Watten Cemetery at about 22:25.

The 18-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Caithness General Hospital, where he died a short time later. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver and passenger of the car were uninjured.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have any information or dashcam footage to get in touch.

Sgt Calum MacAulay, of Police Scotland, said: "Sadly, the male motorcyclist died, and our thoughts are with his family and friends."

"Inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened."
