East Sussex County Council revised plans for the bus lane following a public consultation in 2023

A meeting is set to decide if a new bus lane will go ahead in Eastbourne, after concerns were raised by residents.

The East Sussex County Council (ESCC) meeting on Monday will look at plans to install the new route along the A259, Seaside and St Anthony's Avenue, as part of wider improvements.

In July, the local authority started a consultation on the plans, which some residents and businesses criticised over concerns about congestion, air quality and parking.

On the meeting's documents, the revised proposals have been recommended for approval.

The council had said the lane would provide a more reliable bus service and cut journey times for as many as 14,000 passengers a week.

The local authority revised plans for the bus lane following another public consultation in 2023.
