The UK's largest outdoor covered ice rink is returning to Somerset this winter.

The Icescape will housed be in the Tropicana in Weston-super-Mare from 1 November to 5 January 2025.

North Somerset Council said the rink can welcome 400 skaters at a time and there will be various sessions including some without background noise and also "disco-themed" ones.

The ice rink coming back was down to 'a successful bid for £20m funding' from the UK government, the council added.

The Tropicana hosts many events throughout the year

The Tropicana, originally an outdoor swimming pool and lido, opened in 1937 but closed in 2000.

Since then North Somerset Council has run various events from parts of the site which aren't derelict - including the ice rink, which first opened for two months in 2017.

Local residents have recently being invited to share their thoughts on plans to transform the venue.
