Council to spend over £3m on office renovations
A council has outlined plans to allocate more than £3m for refurbishment works across its corporate office buildings.
North Northamptonshire Council currently has an approved budget of £3.25m for planned renovations across six sites in Corby and Kettering in Northamptonshire.
The work will focus on upgrading facilities including toilets, kitchens and general office spaces, along with updating furniture and essential IT works.
The council report said: "The condition of our properties is important, and priority works need to be undertaken to ensure that the life of the property is maintained."
The plans, seen by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, will cover six sites across the north of the county including the Corby Cube, Corby Enterprise Centre, Corby Innovation Centre, the William Knibb Centre, Haylock House and the Municipal Offices.
The proposed upgrades will also be made to building systems where needed, including electrics, lighting, heating and cooling systems and lifts.
The council added that, wherever possible, the renovations will incorporate sustainable practices to contribute to the authority's carbon reduction goals.
This includes installing new energy-efficient boilers and LED lighting.
The report said, along with the plans to vacate underused council buildings, the local authority would address the "fragmented" use of the council's estate and place teams where they can deliver the "best outcomes" for residents.
A final decision on the project will be made at the council's executive meeting on 19 December.
