Five children and seven adults were found in the back of a lorry after they called emergency services and said: "Help, we are dying."

Cambridgeshire Police located the lorry in Alconbury Weald, Huntingdonshire, at 08:44 BST on 23 August and found people squashed on top of fruit pallets.

The force said a "terrified man" had just 1% battery left on his phone when he made the call and was concerned for everyone on board.

The occupants told officers they were "so cold" and had banged on the side of the lorry and shouted for help for hours but could not alert the driver.

A spokesperson from Cambridgeshire Police said ambulance crews went to the scene and no-one was physically harmed.
