Flood prevention measures to get under way

Work to create a storage pond and a series dams to prevent flooding is due to begin later this month.

The flood prevention measures are due to be installed near Sycamore Drive, Wythall, Worcestershire, after the area was hit by severe flooding in May 2018.

Work to create to measures in the village near Bromsgrove starts on 11 November at a cost of £36,000.

The "leaky" wooden dams will let some water through to slow the flow in a nearby stream, rather than stopping it, and encourage it to spill into the adjacent ponds.

Bromsgrove District Council created two smaller pools in the same area last year and said the planned work would reduce the risk of severe flooding.
