Police have urged motorists to avoid Upper Kewstoke Road

Three people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a tree in Weston-super-Mare, police have said.

One of the people injured has been left in a life-threatening condition.

The single-vehicle crash happened at about 01:00 GMT on Upper Kewstoke Road, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The road was closed throughout Thursday morning, but has since reopened.

Police have asked anyone who was in the area, who may have witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to it, to get in touch with them.
