A man was taken to hospital and a dog resuscitated after a fire at a home in Budleigh Salterton in Devon.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) said three crews were sent to the property in West Hill Lane at 13:06 GMT on Thursday after reports of flames coming from a ground floor window.

The man was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering smoke inhalation and fire crews used a pet resuscitation oxygen mask to revive the dog.

The service said the dog was "safe and well" after being checked over by a vet.

The cause of the fire was accidental and 30% of the ground floor was smoke damaged, it said.
