Man jailed for double stabbing at petrol station
A man who stabbed two men in the neck at a petrol station forecourt has been jailed.
Ellis Coulson, 21, had previously pleaded guilty to the attacks, which took place in St Thomas Road, South Wigston, Leicestershire on 3 November last year.
At Leicester Crown Court on Friday, he was given a 14-year sentence, nine years of which will be spent in custody.
The judge also gave Coulson a hybrid order under the Mental Health Act, which means he will receive hospital treatment until he is deemed fit enough to go to prison.
Potentially fatal
Leicestershire Police said on the day of the attack, Coulson had taken a knife out of his pocket and hidden it behind his back as he spoke to his two victims outside the petrol station shop.
The victims survived the attack after they both drove themselves to the hospital for treatment.
Coulson handed himself in to police about two weeks later.
Det Con Owen Bird said the attack "could have quite easily led to life-changing injuries or even the loss of life".
On the first day of his trial, Coulson - previously charged with attempted murder - pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article in a public place and two counts of wounding with intent.
He was also sentenced for unrelated offences of burglary, criminal damage and vehicle interference.
