A woman has been charged with causing a crash in which a 44-year-old woman died.

Derbyshire Police said they were called to a collision between a Vauxhall Corsa and a Land Rover on the B5023 between Idridgehay and Wirksworth shortly before 09:45 GMT on Tuesday.

Tracey Meek, the driver of the Corsa, was pronounced dead at the scene and a male passenger suffered serious injuries.

A 42-year-old woman from Wirksworth has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and other offences.

The force said she appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Thursday, also charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and failing to co-operate with a preliminary test.
