Work on £1.5m city centre revamp to start in April

Work to transform an area of Canterbury to reduce the use of cars locally will start next month.
The £1.5m project will see roads and pavements near Westgate Towers improved with high quality materials to better reflect the area's history.
Phase one of the project, on the north-west side of St Dunstan's Street and Tower Way, is due to start on 22 April and will take about five months.
Caroline Marlow, Canterbury City Council's lead for the project, said: "It will cause some inconvenience, for which we apologise in advance, but we hope it really will be worth it."
The project comes after the local council received £19.9m of government money,
The overall aim is to reduce the dominance of cars in the area in order to create a community-focused space where events can be held.
The work will lead to some disruption in the area, the council says.
Ms Marlow said the whole project would take about 12 months to complete.
Phase two of the project will see work carried out on the same stretch of road and pavement, but on the south-eastern side.
Phase three will see road resurfacing being carried out in St Peter's Place between the edge of the new Westgate Square and past the junction with Tower Way.
