'Bake Off has changed my life'

Great British Bake Off contestant John Mincher has said being on the show has changed his life "forever".

From loaf cakes to Viennese sandwiches, viewers have watched the 37-year-old from Wolverhampton make a range of creations on the programme.

However, he failed to impress the judges during bread week in episode three and he became the third contestant to leave the show.

"It's just how it is. Because everyone is so talented, you drop the ball and then it is your time to go," he said.

"It has given me the confidence to believe in myself and to know that I am good enough to achieve whatever I want in life."

Mr Mincher said that when his name was announced he was "heartbroken", but had already "made peace" with the decision.

"If anyone else's name had been called I think I would have jumped off my stool [and] told the judges they were wrong," he said.

"My baking besties all give the best hugs, and to have them by my side was all I needed.

"I'm also very happy to be taking away 11 friends for life."
