Vandals cause 'irreparable' damage to public loos
An investigation has been launched after vandals inflicted "irreparable" damage on a public toilet block in a Suffolk town.
Officers are looking into reports that toilets in Fen Park, Lowestoft, were branded with a large amount of graffiti between 15:00 GMT and 17:00 on 31 October.
As a result of the "frustrating" vandalism, Lowestoft Town Council has been forced to temporarily close the toilets so that the black spray paint can be cleaned off.
According to the authority, the latest attack on the town’s communal facilities follows "other incidents of vandalism taking place across the park".
A spokesperson for Lowestoft Town Council added: "It is frustrating, and the damage has been reported to Suffolk Police.
"The cost to repair the damage is likely to be substantial with initial attempts by our grounds team to clean the graffiti showing some of the damage may be irreparable."
