Midwife who submitted own blood samples struck off

A midwife who admitted she submitted samples of her own blood to be tested and accessed her own medical records through work systems has been struck off.
Jolanta Czapska Hill worked at Wexham Park Hospital, in Slough, when she submitted the five samples to its laboratory between August 2018 and May 2019.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) said doing so was an abuse of her position and the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust dismissed her for gross misconduct in 2020.
The trust said in 2023 that it held its staff "to the highest professional standards" and "swiftly" investigates allegations of misconduct.
Mrs Czapska Hill's suspension had been periodically reviewed since 2023 and was due to expire on Tuesday but was made permanent.
She told the NMC that her actions were something that she "will always regret doing" and that doing so was an "error of judgement".
But she said the trust wanted to "manage [her] out" of the organisation because she was raising concerns about patient care.
The NMC said that she showed little insight, strengthening of practice, sufficient remorse and remediation over the two years that she had been suspended from practising.
