Man held over woman's murder bailed

A man arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Barnsley has been released on bail.

The 56-year-old woman was found unresponsive at a house in Summer Lane, Wombwell, on Tuesday and later pronounced dead.

A 58-year-old man was arrested at the same address on Wednesday but police said he had since been bailed pending further inquiries. The woman has not yet been named.

South Yorkshire Police earlier appealed for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
