Bradford Council is to sell two former care homes and a swimming pool in continued efforts to balance the books.

Rhodesway Swimming Pool in Allerton, which closed in 2011, will go under the hammer alongside the recently closed Valley View House and Thompson Court care homes.

The local authority drew up a list of more than 150 assets that it planned to sell, with the sale set to bring in £2.6m if guide prices are met.

The locations are due to be auctioned between 17-18 September.

The former pool, on Oaks Lane, has a guide price of between £40,000-£50,000, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Valley View House, on Lister Lane, and Thompson Court, in Crossflatts, both have a guide price of £950,000 in the sale by Pugh Auctioneers.

Other lots include a former village hall in Cullingworth, office space on Cutler Heights Lane and land which formed part of the former Brandshaw School on Oakworth Road, Keighley.

A small car park near Thornton Road and a mid-terrace home in Bingley will also be auctioned.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “The disposal of these assets are part of the council’s asset disposal programme to achieve financial sustainability.

"There will be further disposals during the next two years.”
