Work starts on specialist dementia care home
Construction has started on a specialist care home in South Yorkshire for adults with complex health needs.
Springfield Vale in Perseverance Street, Barnsley, will provide care for a range of people including those with brain injuries, dementia, mental health disorders and neurological conditions.
The building aims to be completed in early 2026 and will feature 33 en-suite bedrooms across three units, Exemplar Health Care said.
Springfield Vale, which vows to create 100 healthcare jobs, will be the company's third facility in Barnsley, alongside Dearnevale care home in Grimethorpe and Neville Court care home in Kendray.
Jobs will include roles in care, nursing, management, administration, and support.
Helen Lawson, Exemplar Health Care commissioning manager, said: "Our aim is to make every day better for our residents by providing care that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
"It's our ambition for the home to be a place where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events or volunteering."
Construction firm Walter Thompson was appointed to build the development, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
