A man has died following a fire at a flat in East Lothian.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent four crews to the three-storey block on Dunbar High Street at about 17:50 on Thursday.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An SFRS spokesperson confirmed a joint investigation alongside Police Scotland into the cause of the fire was under way.

The man's next of kin have been made aware.

Group commander Andrea McCann said: "Our thoughts are very much with his family, friends and the wider community at this difficult time."
