A pair of kittens have been rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped in a fenced off valley.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to South East Road, Southampton, on Monday morning.

A crew from Hightown found a woman at the scene who had climbed the fence in an effort to save the kittens.

A fire service spokesperson said the crew used a ladder to reach the woman and bring her back up to the road before recovering the young cats. They confirmed all were unharmed.

The spokesperson added the crews returned to their station about 30 minutes "after taking this adorable photo".
