Four fire engines battled the flames in the open field

Firefighters have saved a farmer's fields from devastation after a combine harvester caught fire.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze at Lonesome Farm Cottages in Crowmarsh Gifford, near Wallingford, just before 14:30 BST on Monday.

Crews from Wallingford, Didcot and Henley attended, along with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The flames were contained to the agricultural machinery and about 30 acres (121,000 sq m) of surrounding land.
