Former council care home set to be sold at auction
A 28-bed care home in Bradford is set to be auctioned, as the council tries to balance its books.
Woodward Court in Allerton, a former short stay care home, was closed after Bradford Council deemed it to be “no longer fit for purpose”.
The building, on Kirklees Road, is one of several council-owned properties going under the hammer.
If all the properties listed were to sell for their guide price, the auction would raise £700,000.
Woodward Court is being replaced by a new care home in Saltaire.
The building, including its car park, has a guide price of £325,000.
The other Bradford buildings up for auction are:
- 184 Highfield Road, Idle – a plot of grazing land with a guide price of £165,000
- The Willows, a former assisted living facility on Hall Road
- A terraced property on Reginald Street, Bradford
Thornton Cemetery Lodge, a former cemetery gatehouse, was originally listed to be sold at the same auction – but that listing has been postponed, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The online auction by Pugh Auctioneers will be held on Tuesday.
